Important Information

The ICDL is a weeklong virtual workshop series to promote democratic leadership in a diverse, multigenerational community. This year’s camp will be held Monday, June 19 through Friday, June 23 via Zoom.

what is the icdl?

The core of the ICDL is a series of 90-minute workshops. These workshops will be led by facilitators and informed by the participants’ own engagement with humanities artifacts, such as poems, plays, philosophical treatises, biographies, and paintings. Each workshop generally includes a presentation led by the facilitator, but focuses mainly on interaction between participants through engaging activities (i.e. writing exercises, discussion, testimonial, performance). 

Two, 90-minute sessions will be hosted each day at 9 am ET and 12 pm ET; participants will choose workshop they would like to attend for each time slot.

facilitator responsibilties

Facilitators will host one or two unique workshops.

In addition to hosting their workshop(s) and attending at least one other session during the camp, facilitators must also be available for the following dates:

Saturday, January 21 from 3 – 4 pm ET: Facilitator Orientation (virtual)

Wednesday, May 31: Facilitator bios and workshop descriptions due via email

Week of June 12: Pre-camp meeting (this one-hour virtual meeting will be scheduled among facilitators at a later date)

Benefits

Each facilitator will receive a $300 stipend for hosting two (2) unique workshops or $150 for hosting one (1) unique workshop.

In addition to a stipend, facilitators will receive registration to the full camp. Facilitators are required to attend at least one other workshop throughout the week, but are encouraged to attend as many as possible.

Those interested should email us at icdl@kallion.org with an Expression of Interest by Saturday, October 15. Proposals are due Saturday, October 29 via email. The proposal template, which includes a brief biography and outline of your workshop(s), may be found here. Applicants will be notified of their status by Saturday, November 5, and those selected will be given a week to confirm participation.
