Teresa “Terrie” Garcia

Terrie is a postsecondary educator living in Santa Rosa, Texas. She enjoys studying opportunity costs, education, communication, and postsecondary options, including traditional and nontraditional types. Her example of someone who shows democratic leadership is President Ricardo Solis of South Texas College in McAllen, Texas.

Tara Bardella

Tara is a Digital Campaign Manager based out of Tucson, Arizona and Washington, DC. She enjoys studying a variety of disciplines, including political science, philosophy, psychology, creativity writing, and other humanities fields. She looks to Former US President Barack Obama as an example of democratic leadership in action.

Ormand Moore

Ormand is a humanities teacher in Chapel Hill, North Carolina on the east coast of the United States. He enjoys studying the culture of the American south, spends a lot of time learning about different trees and plants, and is unabashedly obsessed with the novels of Thomas Bernhard. North Carolina Congressional Candidate, Jeff Jackson, is his example of someone who shows democratic leadership.

Stacy Hendrix
Stacy works as a catering chef in Hartsville, South Carolina. She enjoys studying psychology and looks to soldiers as examples of democratic leadership in action.

Josef is an architect in Atlanta, Georgia, who likes to study map/city palimpsests, city planning, policy and standard changes, and child education. He looks to Georgia Gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams as someone who shows democratic leadership.

Maude Havenne

Maude is currently a PhD student living between Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium and Washington, DC (though she will be attending the ICDL from Madrid, Spain!). She enjoys studying literature because, as Spivak said, “literature trains the reader’s imagination to enter other people’s worlds,” and she views Lisette Lombé as someone who exemplifies democratic leadership.

Cynthia Ganote

Cynthia works as a university professor in Louisville, Kentucky. She is a sociologist, who studies race, class, gender, and sexual inequalities in the US, as well as writes and teaches on microresistance (i.e. ways in which people can resist in the face of intersectional microaggressions they encounter in their daily lives). Cynthia looks to Elizabeth Warren as a person of democratic leadership.

Jonathan is an Associate Professor of Classics in Greensboro, North Carolina. He enjoys studying Roman Republican history, oratory and persuasion, and the living city of Rome. Winston Churchill is his example of someone who shows democratic leadership.
